I heard this guy on public radio here in Pasadena. The book sounded interesting, but I think he greatly overestimated the Jewish-as-Jewish influence of Judaism. He almost completely ignored the role of Christianity in bringing Judaism to the world. I mean, without the Christians slashing and burning the world to bring peace to it, Judaism would have probably died out as well. I think the guy downplayed other civilizations that had the same types of living standards. The point is that if it hadn't been for x-tianity's dire dependence on OT texts, the OT wouldn't even be the O- anything. Of course what I heard was a radio review of it. The only reason I'd want to read it is to see just how far he neglects the fact that the Christian Myth was the vehicle for bringing Judaism to the West in the first place.
